Dunedin to Mt Cook – return   One full day tour

DEPART from Dunedin at 7.00 am.  We travel through Oamaru via the historic Whitestone Area and visit the Maori rock drawings at Duntroon. Then travel along the shores of Lakes Waitaki, Aviemore and Benmore where we view the largest earth hydro dam in the Southern hemisphere before moving on to Mt Cook.We view the rugged hill country and high country farms. We may also view flocks of sheep close to the roadside.

You will have time to visit various locations at Mt. Cook over a 4 hour period before returning to Dunedin.

Activities at Mt Cook can include a short track walk, the Hooker Valley walk, view the Tasman Glacier, a scenic helicopter flight up on to the snow, visit the glacial lake and see the ice bergs, visit the Sir Edmund Hillary Centre, take in the 3D presentation of Aoraki, beer or wine tasting. You can have a special meal at the Hermitage restaurant looking out towards the great mountain.

There will be a chance for photo stops along the way. All activities, meals, refreshments at own cost.   Minimum of 2 passengers to take this tour.   

Dunedin –Mt Cook –Christchurch -  Two Day tour

Day 1 Dunedin to Mt. Cook - overnight stay at Mt Cook. Day 2 travel  to Christchurch from Mt. Cook  (or Christchurch to Dunedin via Mt Cook)

Depart Dunedin at 7.00 am and we stop at the famous 4 million year old Moeraki Boulders before travelling to the historic Whitestone Heritage area of Oamaru  for light refreshments, (own cost).

The tour follows the same route as the one day option but in addition we will visit a local Salmon farm at Ohau where you can feed the fish and purchase the freshest in the country. We travel past many sheep, cattle and deer farms. On the way up the shore of Lake Pukaki there is an opportunity to take a helicopter ride for a panoramic flight over the mountains leaving from Glentanner Station. Weather permitting you will be landed on the snow for photo shoots . This is a truly magnificent experience which shouldn't be missed.

Day 2 we leave Mt Cook and visit the old stone Church of the Good Shepherd at Lake Tekapo taking in the magnificent views up the lake through the church window. Then we travel on through Fairlie and Geraldine crossing the great braided rivers and fertile plains of Canterbury on our way to Christchurch.

During the summer we will see lots of wildflowers and there will be lots of photo stops during both days of travel. There is a full commentary during the tour.
